2010 Tarrant County Competition &
2011 International Competition
|
The annual Canstruction® Competition and Exhibition features imaginative sculptures designed by architects and engineers and built of cans and boxes of food that are later donated to Tarrant Area Food Bank. The event is sponsored by the Fort Worth Chapters of the Society for Design Administration (SDA) and The American Institute of Architects as part of a national public service project of SDA and its Canstruction® Foundation.
Winners of the local competition enter photographic images of their can-structions into the national judging for Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Structural Ingenuity, Jurors’ Favorite and Honorable Mention. Since 2003, at least one team from Tarrant County has won a national award. See the winning sculptures from 2011 Canstruction®.
Sponsorships
Each year, the Canstruction® Committee seeks sponsors for their Gala where the competition awards are announced and for expenses related to the competition and exhibition. In addition, the firms and schools that enter the competition seek sponsors for the purchase of the thousands of cans and other food items needed to build their sculptures.
